Hearing often-times
The still, sad music of humanity,
Nor harsh nor grating, though of ample power
To chasten and subdue.
—William Wordsworth (1770–1850)

One of the biggest businesses these days is in the field of a Disc Jockey, not only are they in high demand they can fetch a pretty penny, as well. This is because everywhere you go there is music of some sort needed. If it is a prom, or a wedding, the DJ fits the bill. If there is a radio station in need of an experienced record spinner, you can bet they will go with a DJ rather than a used car salesman.

How does a DJ in the new millennium make a good living? Clearly it is by having all the latest music available that's how. If a DJ does not have the majority of the music wanted by their audience, chances are they are going to be run out of the establishment very quickly. What does a DJ do to ensure that they have all the latest music, without having to carry multitudes of record crates into the building? They get an iPod, and start their own Podcast, that's what they do. This is now a very rapid trend in the DJ realm, by having an ample amount of hard drive space, or a Podcast of their latest music collection. This will ensure that they have exactly what people will ask for on a nightly basis. Not only will the DJ have the latest hits, but they will have a very large medium for it to be stored on, too.

Ellie: A soul is a very expensive thing to keep: much more so than a motor car. Shotover: Is it? How much does your soul eat? Ellie: Oh, a lot. It eats music and pictures and books and mountains and lakes and beautiful things to wear and nice people to be with.
—George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

The great thing about using an iPod for storage of music files or even Podcasting your music for a big gig is that it can constantly be upgraded or revised. This is wonderful news for most DJ's that get handfuls of new material on a weekly basis. Keeping with current trends will keep you on top, and keep you in business. There are many other perks to using an iPod for your DJ'ing as well. It will eliminate much of the equipment that otherwise would have to be carried around, it will keep things organized, as you can categorize every single song that you put in the memory. This is great if you have many of the same type of music. If you have 500 songs that are in the dance, or club segment the last thing you want to do is have to search for each and every song that you want to play. This is also great when someone makes a request for a particular tune that you know you have, this just makes it easy for you to find it without a lot of trouble.

Considering the iPod fits very comfortably in the small shirt pocket of a dress shirt, it is easy to see why this wonderful little device has become so popular, and accepted by DJ's around the world as of late. Small, convenient, and organized, is the way to go when you are trying to sell your wares. Podcasting is clearly here to stay, why not give it a shot, when you are running the show for the evening? It will surely be well worth the effort to install all your latest music in this handy little device.
